Tim Wallis

Tim is a solicitor with more than 25 years of experience in many areas of the law, including commercial litigation, but particularly in the personal injury and insurance field, both for claimants (initially) and defendants (latterly).
He has held the positions of senior partner and chairman of one of the North East’s leading firms, working from its North West office. He trained as a mediator with the ADR Group and has been conducting mediations since 1994. He currently chairs the ADR committee of the Civil Justice Council and Claims Portal Ltd. His experience and expertise has recently been utilised in the publication, by the Oxford University Press, of the “Jackson ADR Handbook”.

Current:
Tim is a full time independent mediator. Drawing on 30 years litigation experience and over 15 years experience as a mediator he mediates a wide range of disputes throughout England and further afield.
Special interest: un-settleable cases.
Founder member and current member of the Civil Justice Council (CJC) and chair of its Dispute Resolution Working Party. In regularly assisting the CJC and the Ministry of Justice in mediating litigation costs negotiations between personal injury solicitors and the insurance industry, Tim has gained valuable experience of mediating high value multi party claims.
He is also responsible for the ADR section of "The White Book" and contributes to other text books along with training and lecturing on ADR.

Tim’s many years commercial and insurance litigation experience with Crutes Law Firm, includes 10 years as joint managing partner and Senior Partner.

Key mediation qualities: indefatigability, persistence, empathy, technical rigour and, crucially, a sense of humour.
Matters mediated since 1994 include commercial disputes, professional negligence claims, partnership/shareholder disputes, property/agricultural matters, inheritance claims, intellectual property disputes, employment disputes and insurance/personal injury claims.

Mediations have included 2 party boundary disputes, mediated in a village hall, to high value multi party disputes mediated through the Civil Justice Council in the presence of the Master of the Rolls.
